A smile is happiness you’ll find right under your nose ~ Tom Wilson
On my long weekend getaway to Palampur (Himachal Pradesh, India), I came across many happy encounters with the friendly & ever smiling locals, who seem to have an eternal joi de vivre in their everyday lives. Sharing some of my encounters with the smiling happy people of Palampur.

On the first evening we arrived in Palampur, we went down to the narrow gauge Kangra Train railway station to click pictures of the toy train. While walking around the railway station, a sweet litttle girl called out to me and asked me to click her photo; I was completely charmed by her and took many shots. Such innocence! She did not bother that I won’t be able to share the pictures with her but obliged my requests to smile a bit more and pose!!

Then we came across this pretty lady sitting at one corner of the station and she also happily obliged for photographs, smiling as much as she could. I couldn’t get over her groovy nose pin!!

While walking around Palampur, we came across this elderly gentleman walking his goat and he was totally happy to smile for me.

This enthusiastic shepherd boy was a happy little soul, energetically getting his lamb for us to cuddle.

This boy monk was super friendly and super smiling 🙂

Last but not the least, the wonderful Gagan Sharma, who hosted a bunch of us at the delightful property in Palampur – Himachal Heritage Village. He took us around Palampur, shared the interesting stories and met all our demands with a big smile. It was wonderful meeting him and to be introduced to Palampur by him!!

I will visit Palampur again just to meet such happy people again and carry away a bit of that happiness back with me.

  1. That's one of the special moments when traveling is meeting the people along the way. Their happiness draws you like a magnet. I love the photos that you shared on here.
