Parthsarthy Rock, Jawahar Lal Nehru University, Delhi ~ View from a Vantage Point

In my opinion, its one of the best kept secrets of Delhi!!…..this is Parthasarathy rock & open air auditorium in Jawaharlal Nerhu University (popularly called only JNU) Campus.
What exactly is this place…well, JNU has been established on a large area of the Delhi ridge, which are part of the aravalli range of mountains, there are a number of rocky hills and crevices However, the gem of the green spaces is Parasarathy Rock(called PSR popularly)…it is the highest natural point in Delhi and is open area dotted by smalls hills, undulating landscapes and having wonderful wildlife like peacocks, lizards, foxes, scorpions and snakes(though they dont come out during daytime and usually they dont bite!!).

Students and very few outsiders who know about this place frequent it for its calm atmosphere, ambiance of freedom and most of all its open round the clock and very very secure…..
i have spent many a evenings here watching sunsets, winds blowing and peacock & peahens rambling about…i have also spent many a night outs here with my friends , chatting the whole night watching the stars and aeroplanes flying dizzyingly close by!!!(yeah as the airport is close by), discussing our lifes, past present and future over sufficient amounts of beers.
check out the pic below, this is a typical night out of a friends gang at PSR, this is not my pic though, got it over the net ~ courtesy google image search!!

PSR is also a bird lovers’ delight and people come here to for bird watching frequently……

One of my most special moments here was when my brother and his friends organized a special birthday treat here for me once, it was real special , cutting the cake beneath the stars, surrounded my silence and my dearest brother….it was a birthday i will never forget!!
